Viewers of this site may be aware that incorrect figures for Babergh's scores in the National Place Survey were published in the June 24 issue of the EADT and repeated in other media, including BBC Radio Suffolk.
Babergh is pleased that the correct Survey figures were re-issued by the Central Office for Information (COI). We are equally pleased that these accurate figures placed Baberght as top of Suffolk councils for value for money and second best for residents’ satisfaction.
However, we are concerned that as the correct figures have not yet been printed in the EADT that Babergh residents - and others - may still be under the impression that this Council has done less well in the Survey than is actually the case.
According to the corrected Survey, 51.6% of residents were very or fairly satisfied with Babergh and 37.3% felt the Council provided value for money.
Babergh realises the overall figures show just what challenges are faced by all local authorities in satisfying the expectations of residents.
Cllr Nick Ridley, Chairman of Babergh’s Strategy Committee, said: “While we are pleased with Babergh’s performance, and the fact the correct figures have now been issued, we are by no means complacent that we get everything right, all of the time.
“Babergh is constantly striving to deliver the best service that it can, while also offering its taxpayers value for money.”
