A programme aimed at helping more people learn about the harsh realities of domestic violence and abuse is due to start again in Hadleigh and Sudbury.
The Freedom Programme, which has been funded by the Babergh Community Safety Partnership (CSP), is open to any woman who has been or is currently affected by the impact of an abusive relationship.
Over 12 weeks the programme will look at the tactics, behaviours and the beliefs of abusers, the impact and effect this behaviour has on victims and their families and how to recognise potential abusive relationships.
It is hoped that the programme will enable women to increase their self-esteem and confidence and improve their lives.
The sessions, which are being run by Babergh Domestic Violence and Abuse Forum for the CSP, starts this month in both Hadleigh and Sudbury locations.
The project is a rolling programme so attendees can start at any point though it is advisable to try and complete the full 12 weeks.
Ann Scott, Babergh’s Community Safety Officer, said: ”The Freedom Programme provides a safe and totally confidential environment in which women can talk and share their experiences, empowering them and giving them the confidence to make positive changes to take control of their lives.
“This innovative programme is for women only, but we do realise that many men can also be victims of domestic abuse. We would encourage them to still get in contact".
