Disabled Facilities Grants

To provide for the special needs of disabled people - installing stairlifts, low access showers and other alterations to help those with disabilities enjoy easier access and mobility around their homes.

Eligibility for these grants is subject to a medical assessment by an Occupational Therapist from Social Care Services.

These grants are subject to a £30,000 maximum and a "means test" to determine the applicant’s ability to contribute towards the cost of the work.

Decent Homes Grants

A grant of up to £5,000 per property is available to remedy serious hazards to health and safety, major disrepair and provision of an adequate heating system.

These grants are subject to a "means test" to determine the applicant's ability to contribute towards the cost of the works.

If the cost of the works exceeds £5,000 by at least £500, a loan is available up to a maximum of £15,000. This loan is repayable if the property is sold or transferred.

Energy Efficiency Home Repairs Assistance

To carry out Energy Efficiency measures such as the installation of approved renewable heat sources such as solar water heating or non standard insulation measures when conventional insulation measures cannot be undertaken, a grant of 50% of eligible expense paid, up to a maximum of £500 per dwelling.

Energy Efficiency in the Home

Landlord Grants (Existing Tenancies)

Work to improve energy efficiency.

50% of eligible expense paid up to a maximum of £5,000.

Full repayment will be required if the property is sold within 5 years, or rent restrictions not adhered to. For the next 5 years a sliding scale applies with repayment reduced by 20% for each full year conditions are adhered to.
