PETITIONS

The Director of Corporate Services to report, in accordance with Council Procedure Rule No.13, that a petition has been submitted to the Chief Executive relating to:-

 

 


Proposed National Grid Pylons

Petition signed by more than 300 residents of the District positively supporting the undergrounding of the proposed new National Grid power lines and rejecting the current proposals on which National Grid is consulting.

The petition was reported to the Council at its meeting on 28 January 2010.

The petition is referred to in Paper J178 (a report by the Head of Natural and Built Environment on the consultation response to the proposals) and Members are asked to take it into account when considering the report.

QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS

The Chairman to answer any questions on any matters in relation to which the Council has powers or duties or which affect the District and which fall within the terms of reference of the Committee of which due notice has been given in accordance with Council Procedure Rule No.15.4 (a) and (b).

BRAMFORD TO TWINSTEAD OVERHEAD LINE PROJECT: ROUTE CORRIDOR CONSULTATION STUDY (STAGE ONE) – RESPONSE TO NATIONAL GRID

Report by the Head of Natural and Built Environment attached.

Details of the speaking arrangements agreed by Strategy Committee at its last meeting are attached to the report.

Paper J181 (attached) sets out the amended recommendation to the Suffolk County Council Cabinet meeting held on the 2 February 2010 which was agreed  (subject to the County Council’s call in procedures) - Paper J178, paragraph 5.2 refers, together with copies of further representations - Paper J178, paragraph 5.23 – Appendix 2.

To consider whether, pursuant to Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, the public should be excluded from the meeting for the business specified in Item 10 below on the grounds that if the public were present during this item, it is likely that there would be the disclosure to them of exempt information as indicated against the item.
