That the Minutes of the meetings listed below be confirmed and signed as correct records:-

4          QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS

None received.

 

5          POLICING AND CRIME ACT 2009 AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1982:  SEXUAL ENTERTAINMENT VENUE (SEV) LICENSING 

Members had before them the report of the Head of Natural and Built Environment  (Paper K180) asking the Committee to seek approval for the delegation of the Council’s statutory functions in respect of sexual entertainment venues as introduced by Section 27 of  the Policing and Crime Act 2009. 

Officers answered questions from Members on various matters relating to Paper K180. 

RECOMMENDED TO COUNCIL 

(1)     That the powers contained in Schedule 3 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 as amended by Section 27 of the Policing and Crime Act 2009 be adopted with effect from 31 March 2011. 

(2)     That the discharge of all functions under the provisions in recommendation (1) above, save for policy setting, be delegated to the Council’s Licensing and Appeals Committee, with policy setting to be delegated to the Council’s Strategy Committee via recommendation of the Council’s Licensing and Appeals Committee. 

(3)     That Part 3 of the Constitution be updated accordingly.

 

The business of the meeting was concluded at 10.07 a.m.
