The Babergh Community Safety Partnership is a group of local public authorities working together to ensure a safer Babergh

Community safety partnership logo What is Babergh Community Safety Partnership?

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 placed a statutory duty on the following Public Authorities to work together to tackle crime and disorder. For Babergh this means

  • Suffolk County Council
  • Suffolk Constabulary
  • NHS Suffolk
  • Suffolk Police Authority
  • Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service
  • Babergh District Council
  • The Probation Service

These organisations, in conjunction with Suffolk Drug and Alcohol Action Team form Babergh’s Community Safety Partnership.

We all work together to create a safer and stronger Suffolk. Babergh has one of the lowest crime rates in Suffolk, in fact you have a 95% chance of never being a victim of crime. However the partnership needs to work hard to keep it low and drive it down even further. The partnership recognizes that the following issues are affecting Babergh residents and have identified them as the key areas for focus.

The following list details the priority areas of focus for 20011/2012. The full details are outlined on the documents linked at the bottom of this page, including our quarterly progress reviews.

Home Office
If communities are to be made still safer, everyone - from the heart of national government, through regional and local partners, right through to neighbourhoods and the people who live in them - must play their part. The National Community Safety Plan (NCSP) was published in November 2005 to help achieve this.
