Suffolk ACRE is a charity and company limited by guarantee incorporated in 1997. It was established in 1937 to work with communities in Suffolk. It's mission is to tackle the economic, social and environmental needs of communities in Suffolk by forging effective partnerships between communities and agencies and promoting communal self-help.

Age Concern supports all people over 50 in the UK, ensuring that they get the most from life.  They provide essential services such as day care and information. They campaign on issues like age discrimination and pensions, and work to influence public opinion and government policy about older people. 


Babergh Communities Together

At Babergh Communities Together it's our job to support voluntary and community groups like yours. We provide advice, guidance and practical help to voluntary and community groups throughout the District of Babergh.

Recruits and matches volunteers to placements within voluntary and community groups and to assist individuals who have a disability and/or are on a low-income. At Hadleigh Library - Wednesdays; The Christopher Centre, Sudbury - Thursdays; Shotley Village Hall - Fridays.

The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free information and advice from over 3,200 locations, and by influencing policymakers.  

Community Education:  

The Community Education Service contributes, with partners, to the educational achievement of young people and adults through the provision of learning opportunities which complement work in schools and colleges and with other learning providers to enable wider participation in learning.

Foundation East:

Lends money to small businesses, self-employed people and social enterprises in Suffolk and neighbouring counties that are unable to get a bank loan. Their purpose is to contribute to the community in Suffolk by enabling local people to achieve their ambitions and in so doing, create jobs and offer services to the community. They are particularly happy to work with community businesses and social enterprises.

Home start

Home-start's is an informal and friendly support charity for families with young children. The support is free, confidential and non-judgemental. There is a Home-Start scheme in Hadleigh.

Her Majesty's Courts Service brings together on 1st April 2005 the Magistrates' Courts Service and Court Service into one single organisation for the first time. Their purpose is to deliver justice effectively and efficiently to the public and are responsible for the administration of the civil, family and criminal courts in England and Wales.

Aim to promote good citizenship and greater public participation in the prevention and solution of crime, links to local groups.

The Suffolk Community Mediation Service, run by national crime reduction charity Crime Concern, aims to solve community disputes with a view to prevent future crime and anti-social behaviour.  The service is funded by Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Police and the District Councils of Babergh, Suffolk Coastal and Waveney.

The Racial Harassment Initiative provides support for victims of racial harassment and leads on strategic development on behalf of the 'Multi-Agency Forum Against Racial Harassment' and Suffolk's Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships. Its clear aims and objectives are linked to the CDRP strategies and county council's Policy and Performance Plan.

The Suffolk Youth Offending Service has been operating since 1999 and seeks to reduce offending by young people.
