"I would like to congratulate and thank all our winners whose drive, determination and commitment make their communities a better place in which to live commented David Wood, Chairman of Babergh District Council at the Council's annual ceremony after handing out 24 Community Achievement Awards at the Council's annual ceremony.

Over 40 nominations were received for the awards scheme which is in its 19th year. This year Anesta Newson received the judging panel's "Special Award" for the significant and inspirational work she has done for The Bridge Project in Sudbury, a centre for vulnerable adults in the community. See picture below of Anesta receiving her award.

The judging panel were also very proud of one of our young winners, Holly Watson who, through adversity, has launched her own campaign to reduce knife crime in the county. See picture below of Holly receiving her award.

The awards ceremony was held on 9th March 2011 at the Stoke by Nayland Club and every winner received crystal glassware and a personal photograph of the event.
The awards were presented by Peter Tyrer, Director/Company Secretary of Prolog (our sponsors for the last ten years) and David Wood, Chairman of the Council. The guest of honour was Mark Murphy, Breakfast Presenter, BBC Radio Suffolk.
