“This year we again attracted a vast number of nominations and our judging panel had to use all their skills and integrity when selecting the final winners. I would like to congratulate and thank all our winners who have given so much of their time and effort to make their communities a better place in which to live” commented Jennie Jenkins, Babergh District Council's Chairman following the presentation of 25 Community Achievement Awards at Babergh's annual ceremony.

Over 45 nominations were received for the awards which is in its 17th year and celebrates the achievements of community heroes throughout the district. The Judges Special Award went to T.A.N.K. - a group of Great Cornard mums, whose aim is to improve life in their community and provide more activities for children and for the first time Babergh recognised a Business Award – Delphi Diesel Systems of Sudbury.

The awards ceremony was held on 4th March at Stoke by Nayland Club and all winners received a framed certificate, a crystal glass or plaque and a photograph of the event.
The awards were again presented by Peter Tyrer, Director and Company Secretary of Prolog, who have sponsored the event for the last eight years and Jennie Jenkins, Chairman of the Council. The guest of honour was Mark Murphy, BBC Radio Suffolk's Breakfast programme presenter.
