Paying your bill

Summary

Babergh District Council offers a range of ways for you to make payment.

When to pay

Business Rates is due on April 1st each year.

The amount you have to pay is divided up over a maximum of 10 monthly instalments (where the bill is issued before April 30th, bills issued after May 1st will receive a reduced number of instalments). 

Business Rates instalments are due on the first of each month and will be shown on your Business Rate bill, if we have not received your payment the Council may take recovery action against you (See What Happens if I Don’t Pay).

What to do if you have trouble paying

If you are having difficulty in paying your Business Rates please contact us immediately on 01473 825798.

We cannot guarantee that we will be able to help in every case but we will do our utmost to assist you if we can.

There are also a number of independent companies (PDF, 7kb) who can advise you if you are having money troubles.

Completing an online form helps us to save money, time, and paper. Our online forms are secure. If you are in a public place (library, internet cafe, etc) and you are providing us with personal information, please take extra precautions to protect your information.
